After college, I worked in Japan for 10 years. During this time, I studied martial arts and became interested in energy work. After about 8 years of practice, I began to understand that my teachers were using energy (ki, or qi) in their various martial arts. I began to ask questions about how this energy applies to techniques. One great mentor explained that energy practice can be used both in martial arts, as well as to bring balance and to heal.
 

Seitai: Due to martial arts in the evenings and on weekends, combined with sitting at a desk for work, I developed tendonitis in my wrists and forearms, as well as stiffness and pain in my knees, hips, back, and shoulders. I consulted with a couple of doctors, and even considered giving up martial arts. I was walking up stairs one step at a time: right foot up, then left foot next to it. My great good fortune was to meet Sakata Akira Sensei, who resolved these issues using Seitai, deep tissue work combined with an energy practice. I was lucky that he accepted me as his student.

Reiki: Upon returning to the US for law school, I had further questions about energy and sought to deepen my understanding. I was fortunate to study with Rev. Trudi Denison, who taught me and with great kindness brought me to the level of Reiki Master Teacher.

Energy Clearing and Balancing: Reading Roses: Returning to Vermont from having practiced law in France, I cast about for ways to deepen my understanding of energy practice and healing. I began this work around the time of the death of my father in 2014, My wonderful teacher and mentor, Megan Assaf, has guided me through much healing, and graciously has taught me this lovely practice.

Chinese Energetic Medicine: Deeply desiring to learn more about energy work and healing, I started study Chinese Energetic Medicine with Pat Bardone in 2017, and with his teacher, Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson, in 2019. In August 2024, I completed a four-year doctoral program under Doctor Johnson.
